Nationally, the median list price for a home in December 2011 was $188,000, a 5 percent increase over December of 2010, according to Realtor.com data tracking 147 metro areas.
But in some markets, you can snag homes for under $100,000.

South Bend, Ind.: $99,700
Toledo, Ohio: $104,900
Dayton-Springfield, Ohio: $105,900
Fort Wayne, Ind.: $107,000
Las Vegas: $120,000
Springfield, Ill.: $122,700
Lakeland-Winter Haven, Fla.: $128,000
Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria, Ohio: $129,900
Akron, Oio: $129,000
Ocala, Fla: $129,000
